BUILDING OUR TREE HOUSE- Together with families, spouses and friends, we designed and built a unique space in our Saplings program. We believe children need large group spaces, private and solitaire spaces and raised platforms. The treehouse encompasses all of these concepts.

We had great fun, worked hard and overcame several barriers and obstacles. Together we created this amazing  wooden structure. Thank you to all of your combined efforts!

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY-

What a better way to promote the love of reading, within our community! Hazelwood Early Learning Centre felt privileged when approached by the city of Port Coquitlam with an invitation to act as an ambassador / steward  of a new little free library. The library can be found in Settler’s Park, and will be maintained by the children at Hazelwood. The children will work together to ensure there are books available in the library, that the library does not get damaged, and will even be planting flowers at the base.

Thank you to those who visited the library for the grand opening, the children plan to return to the library for story time throughout the year.

Support, Advocacy and Fellowship – Way to go Team Hazelwood!

This year our supporters were very generous in rallying behind our team. Our total fundraising was $2,280.00.  What a great day shared with family, friends and community.

The day is getting closer. We will again participate in the annual Walk For Autism. Join us October 1st for a fun day of advocacy, fellowship and support. Help us reach our goal of $200.00 to support this cause so dear to our hearts.

AUTISM SPEAKS – WALKautismspeaks

This September, the educators at Hazelwood Early Learning Centre will be participating in the annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks. This Walk is the largest annual fundraiser for Autism Speaks, a organization that raises both funds and awareness for research and services for those living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

As you may know, our team at Hazelwood Early Learning Centre has been privileged to embrace a young child on the autism spectrum. As our relationship with him, his family, and his extended team of support continues to grow, so does our awareness of inclusivity and ASD.walk

Our Walk For Autism team includes educators, support staff, families and children. We are eager to raise both awareness and funds for Autism Speaks Canada, and help to make a difference for the autism community. We have already raised over 600 dollars, and with your help we would love to reach our goal of $1,500!

Please visit our team page below, where you can donate to a team member. We also hope you will join our team and walk with us.

WE BELIEVE CHILDREN ARE CAPABLE AND COMPETENT!

Our recent painting project supported our philosophy regarding children’s abilities. The school age children determined that the cubbies really needed a fresh coat of paint. On the post recent pro-d day we all got to work. The end result was outstanding!
